Business numbers

Betting paybill and account numbers

Each betting paybill in Kenya pairs a business number with an account field, and the account field decides which betting account the money reaches. SportPesa wants your registered phone number, betPawa the word PAWA and Shabiki the word SHABIKI.

A paybill missing from the bookmaker’s own page belongs to someone else, so a number copied from a forum or WhatsApp group can send your money to an unrelated business. Copy the number from the operator’s cashier or help page, and check it digit by digit before you enter your PIN.

A paybill only carries money in. Withdrawals go back to the M-Pesa line on the account, requested by SMS or from the Withdraw menu, from KSh 50 at Betika and Chezacash and from KSh 100 at Odibets.

Most searched

SportPesa, Betika and Odibets paybill numbers

SportPesa, Betika and Odibets are among the betting paybill numbers in Kenya that punters search for by name, and each handles the account field its own way.

SportPesa paybill and account number

SportPesa takes M-Pesa on 955100 and 5212121, with the phone number registered on SportPesa typed as the account number. A reply SMS shows the new balance after each deposit. Online, Funds and then Deposit on the SportPesa Kenya site send the same M-Pesa prompt.

Betika paybill and account number

Betika’s paybill is 290290, and the account field takes your Betika account number. Punters on a basic phone register first by texting BETIKA to 29090, then pay through Lipa na M-PESA as usual.

Odibets paybill and account number

Odibets uses paybill 290680 with ODI as the account, and its FAQ page says the field can be left blank. Standard M-Pesa charges apply, and the SMS that confirms the deposit carries your new Odi balance.

Step by step

How to pay a paybill via M-Pesa

Paying a betting paybill via M-Pesa runs through the Lipa na M-PESA menu in your SIM Toolkit:

  1. Open M-PESAIn the SIM Toolkit, choose M-PESA, then Lipa na M-PESA.
  2. Select Pay BillThe menu then asks for the business number.
  3. Type the business numberFor example 290030 for Chezacash or 5680100 for MSport.
  4. Fill the account numberUse the bookmaker’s own wording: your phone number, PAWA, SHABIKI or ODI.
  5. Enter the amount and your M-Pesa PINCheck the business number and account once more before you send.
  6. Keep the M-Pesa SMSIt holds the transaction code; Odibets also replies with your new betting balance.

Mozzartbet notes that an M-Pesa SMS confirms the deposit once you approve the payment, and that message is your receipt if anything goes wrong.

The STK push is quicker when the site is open: type the amount in the Deposit box, and an M-Pesa prompt arrives on your phone asking only for your PIN. MSport’s paybill needs no account number at all, and Odibets lets you leave its account field blank.

Find the right number

How to search a paybill number

The safest way to search a betting paybill number is to read it off the bookmaker’s own site: SportyBet and Bangbet print it in the page footer, Betgr8 shows 247979 in the Deposit bar, and SportPesa lists both of its numbers on the How to Play page.

Search engines and paybill directories carry old numbers. Bangbet’s own help centre still has a May 2024 article quoting paybill 999880, while the live footer shows 569699, so the footer wins whenever the two differ.

Odibets, Mozzartbet and Chezacash explain their paybill in a help or FAQ page, with the account wording spelled out, as in Chezacash’s deposit guide.

SportPesa runs two business numbers, 955100 and 5212121, and both credit the same account, so neither is a fake.

If a number reaches you by SMS or social media, open the operator’s site yourself and compare it digit by digit before paying anything. A message asking you to pay a stake to a personal number, a till or a paybill missing from the operator’s site should be treated as a scam, whatever logo it carries.

No data

Deposit by SMS and USSD without data

SMS and USSD deposits let you fund a betting account from a basic phone with no data bundle. SportPesa’s *790# menu, option 4, sends an M-Pesa prompt for the amount you type, and Chezacash takes D#500 sent to 29030.

SMS short codes for Kenyan betting accounts

SportPesa79079GAME to register, W#amount to withdraw
Betika29090BETIKA to register, WITHDRAW#AMOUNT to withdraw
Odibets29680ODI to register, W#amount to withdraw
Shabiki29063Deposit and the amount, for example Deposit 100
Chezacash29030D#amount to deposit, W#amount to withdraw
Mozzartbet29990WIN to register

USSD covers the rest: *644# at Betika, *664# at Odibets and *334# for betPawa’s Lipa na M-Pesa route.

Bangbet withdrawals run through *852#, option 3 and then 2, and Betika also accepts registration by *644# for punters without a smartphone. Register from the line that holds your M-Pesa; Odibets, for one, acts on SMS withdrawal requests only from the number linked to the account.

Missing money

Why your betting deposit did not reflect

A betting deposit that never shows up in your balance comes down, in the common cases, to the wrong line or the wrong account field. SportPesa credits only the number registered on the account, so money paid from a second SIM never reaches your balance.

MSport goes further: a paybill payment from an unregistered line opens a new MSport account and sends its password to that number. Odibets confirms every credited deposit by SMS with the M-Pesa reference and the new balance, so a missing reply is the first sign a payment went astray.

BonusBet has a missing-deposit tool in the account menu: paste the M-Pesa confirmation message or code, and the payment is traced and credited. Elsewhere, send the same confirmation SMS to customer care, since it carries the transaction code support needs to find your money.

Mozzartbet and Chezacash take the registered phone number as the account, so the account field must match the number you registered with. Check every digit of that number before you enter the PIN.

Costs

Paybill charges and the 5% excise duty

Paybill charges on a betting deposit come in two layers: the M-Pesa transaction fee and the 5% excise duty on the amount deposited for betting, which KRA’s Finance Act 2026 summary confirms. On a KSh 1,000 top-up, the excise is KSh 50.

Betika hands part of the fee back: its first deposit of the day earns a small bonus that covers the transaction charge, KSh 3 on a KSh 49 deposit and KSh 8 on KSh 99.

BonusBet’s terms allow a handling charge of up to 5% on deposits and withdrawals, and SportPesa can take 10% from money deposited and withdrawn without being staked. Kwikbet’s terms also show a 5% charge on withdrawals.

Send what you plan to bet in one payment, and stake it before you withdraw. The guide to betting tax in Kenya covers the 20% on winnings, and the comparison of betting sites in Kenya by licence and offer links each operator to its company page, such as Betika Kenya and Odibets Kenya.

Betting paybill FAQ

Can I use a betting paybill with Airtel Money?

Only where the bookmaker accepts Airtel on it. SportPesa takes Airtel Money on the same 955100, while Bangbet gives Airtel its own number, 4100425, and Betika uses the business name BETIKA. The betting sites that take Airtel Money are listed with their Airtel steps.

What is the minimum M-Pesa deposit on a betting site?

MSport and Bangbet accept KSh 1, betPawa's online deposit starts at KSh 2 and BonusBet's at KSh 10, while Mozzartbet's terms set no minimum for M-Pesa deposits. The excise duty and the M-Pesa fee take a bigger share of a very small top-up.

How long does a paybill deposit take to reflect?

betPawa credits a successful deposit at once, and Odibets replies with an SMS carrying the new balance. If an MSport deposit is not showing, check Transactions in your account before you contact support with the M-Pesa transaction code.

How do I deposit on 1xBet or 22Bet with M-Pesa?

Through the cashier. Choose M-Pesa, type the amount and confirm the prompt that arrives on your phone with your PIN. 1xBet's M-Pesa deposits start at KSh 40, and 22Bet says M-Pesa payments reach the balance within an hour.

Do I need data to deposit with a paybill?

No. The Lipa na M-PESA menu runs on the SIM Toolkit without a data bundle, and so do SMS and USSD deposits such as Shabiki's 29063 or SportPesa's *790#. Only the STK push from a website or app needs data.
