Licensed betting companies in Kenya, BK and PG numbers by brand

Licensed betting companies in Kenya hold a bookmaker licence from the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), which names the company behind each brand. Each card below opens a page with the licence the operator holds and, where the operator publishes them, its M-Pesa paybill, jackpot card and apps.

Bookmakers on the GRA list

These bookmakers appear on the Gambling Regulatory Authority list of licensed companies for the 2025/26 financial year, each under a named Kenyan company with a bookmaker (BK) or public gaming (PG) licence number. Their pages carry the paybill, the jackpot card, the minimum stake and the payout ceiling wherever the operator publishes them.

A complaint about a GRA-licensed site goes to the operator first and then to the GRA, which runs its own complaints route for punters.

International bookmakers taking shillings

International bookmakers in this group run shilling accounts with M-Pesa, and some add Airtel Money, cards and e-wallets. Their Kenyan companies have no row of their own in the 2025/26 GRA register, so check the company named in the site footer against gra.go.ke before you deposit.

BetWinner trades through Lucky Bet Limited, whose Kenyan iPhone app says it works under a local licence. A dispute with any bookmaker in this group goes to its support team first and then to the authority its terms name, so keep the slip number, the M-Pesa message and the date of every payment.

GRA list of licensed betting companies

The GRA list of licensed betting companies names the company, the trading name, the licence numbers and, where it has one, the website of every licensee for one financial year; the current edition covers 2025/26.

Licensed betting companies in Kenya with a company page here appear with those columns, so you can match a brand to the company that answers for it.

A trading name on the list is sometimes a company name rather than the brand on the screen: SportPesa is listed under Milestone Games Limited and BC.Game under the trading name Begame. Match the company and the domain as well as the logo.

How to check a betting licence in Kenya

Checking a betting licence in Kenya takes two minutes and needs nothing more than the site's footer and the GRA website. The steps below work for any bookmaker, including one that is not on this site.

  1. Read the footer of the betting site Note the company name and any licence code it prints, such as a BK number.
  2. Open the GRA list of licensed operators It sits at gra.go.ke under Licensing.
  3. Search the page for the trading name Use your browser's find tool and try the company name too, since some brands are listed under their company.
  4. Compare the domain Check the DOMAINS column against the address you are using. Some licensees have moved since the list was published (Betgr8 now serves Kenya from betgr8.com/ke, and MSport's row shows maybets.com while its Kenyan site runs at msport.com/ke), so a different domain means checking the company name in the footer, not proof of a fake.
  5. Keep a screenshot If a payout dispute follows, the licence holder is the company the GRA will deal with.

If neither the trading name nor the company name is on the list, treat the site as unlicensed in Kenya even when it shows an offshore licence, and keep your deposits with a bookmaker that is on the list.

GRA licence numbers: BK, PG and PL

GRA licence numbers come in three columns on the licensed-companies list: BK for a bookmaker licence, PG for public gaming such as casino games, and PL for a lottery. A sportsbook needs a BK number, and a PG number covers casino games; several bookmakers with a casino tab, SportPesa among them, show Nil in the PG column for 2025/26.

Odibets, for example, holds all three, BK 0001095, PG 0001096 and PL 0001097, while SportPesa's 2025/26 entry shows a BK number only. SportPesa, for example, prints a newer 2026 code in its own footer, GRAK/2026/BK185751, so check the company name first when a number differs from the 2025/26 list.

From BCLB to the Gambling Regulatory Authority

The Gambling Regulatory Authority replaced the Betting Control and Licensing Board under the Gambling Control Act, 2025, which came into force on 26 August 2025. Licences, complaints and self-exclusion now run through the GRA, and its toll-free line, 0800 723 770, answers gambling questions.

Older terms and conditions at several Kenyan sites still say BCLB, and some still quote BCLB-era licence numbers. That wording is simply out of date; what matters is that the company name appears on the current GRA list of licensed betting companies in Kenya.

The guide to whether betting is legal in Kenya covers the Act in more detail, and every brand with a company page here also appears on the list of best betting sites in Kenya.

Questions about betting licences in Kenya

How many betting companies are licensed in Kenya?

The GRA publishes the full list of licensed gaming companies for each financial year on gra.go.ke, with each company's trading name, bookmaker (BK) number, casino (PG) number and website. The 2025/26 edition has 187 entries, covering bookmakers, casinos and lotteries.

Who regulates betting companies in Kenya?

The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya (GRA) licenses and supervises betting companies under the Gambling Control Act, 2025. It took over from the Betting Control and Licensing Board, which is why many sites still mention BCLB in older terms.

Is SportPesa a licensed betting company in Kenya?

Yes. SportPesa is run by Milestone Games Limited, which holds bookmaker licence 0001193 on the GRA list for 2025/26, and the company page shows its paybill, jackpots and payout ceiling.
