Self-exclusion
GRA self-exclusion: how to sign up
Self-exclusion through the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Kenya blocks you from betting with the operators in the scheme for a set period. The GRA self-exclusion page puts that period at 6 months to 5 years, covering premises, websites and apps.
- Visit the GRA offices or email [email protected] and say that you want to self-exclude.
- Confirm your identity with a photo and proof of address.
- The GRA starts the process, and you come off the operators’ marketing lists.
The exclusion cannot be ended early. Section 115 of the Gambling Control Act, 2025 has the GRA keep a register of exclusions and notify every licensee. Each licensee then has to take reasonable steps to refuse you service and stop marketing to you.

Bookmaker self-exclusion and the GRA toll-free line
Responsible gambling in Kenya also works at the level of a single account, and betting is for adults aged 18 and over. The same Act lets you sign a self-exclusion agreement directly with a licensed bookmaker; at SportPesa, Self Exclusion sits in the account menu below Deposit, Withdraw and Bet History.
The GRA runs a toll-free number, 0800 723 770, for support and gaming inquiries, free of charge. Complaints about a licensed operator go to the GRA on its complaints form, by email to [email protected], or by hand to its office at ACK Garden Annex, 7th floor.
A deposit that would come out of rent, school fees or food money is the moment to use one of these tools, before the next M-Pesa top-up.
