Standings
Serie A standings today
Serie A standings today count every result of a 38-round season, from the August openers to the last day in May. Points decide the order, with goal difference and goals scored beside them.
This season Italian games have ended level in only 17% of results, the lowest share of the big five leagues, so the gaps between clubs open faster than in a draw-heavy league. The form strip shows which clubs are winning their way up.
Points per game is the fairer measure on the Serie A table while midweek rounds leave some clubs a match behind the rest.
Zones
Champions League places and the Serie B drop
Four rows at the top carry the Champions League colour. Fifth and sixth lead to the Europa League, seventh to Conference League qualifying, and the bottom three to Serie B.
The race for fourth place in Italy goes to the last round in many seasons, and a club chasing it plays its final games with more riding on them than a side stuck in mid-table. In the closing weeks the table says as much about motivation as about form.

How many teams are relegated from Serie A?
Three clubs go down to Serie B at the end of the season, and three come up from it. The bottom three rows carry the relegated colour.

Thirty-eight: every club meets the other 19 once at home and once away between August and May.
Why do some Serie A clubs show a game in hand?
Midweek rounds and games moved for European fixtures leave some clubs a match behind, so the P column can be one game lower for them.
How many Italian clubs reach the Champions League?
The table marks four Champions League places this season, followed by two Europa League places and one Conference League place.
