Football betting terms and their meaning
Football betting terms start with the result markets on every match card. SportPesa settles them at full time: 90 minutes plus stoppage time, with extra time and penalty shoot-outs left out.

| Draw no bet (DNB) | A bet on HOME or AWAY that returns the stake if the match ends level. More in the draw no bet guide. |
| Half time/full time (HT/FT) | The result at the break and at the end together. X/2 means level at half-time, away win at full time. |
| Correct score | The exact final score. ANY OTHER covers every score missing from the list. |
| Euro handicap 1 (1:0) | The home side gets a one-goal start added to its final score. A 1-1 draw settles as 2-1, so 1 (1:0) wins. |
| First team to score | The side that scores first, with NEITHER as the pick for 0-0. |
Own goals count for the team they benefit in correct score markets, so a 2-1 that includes an own goal is still a 2-1.
Goal markets
Betting terms over/under, GG and goal lines
Over/under bets count goals against a line ending in .5, so the bet always wins or loses. SportPesa lists the main version as TOTAL GOALS OVER/UNDER – FULL TIME, with half-time and team versions alongside.

| GG / NG | BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE: YES (GG) needs a goal from each side; NO (NG) wins if at least one team fails to score. |
| Total goals exactly | The exact number of goals in the match, from 0 up to 6 OR MORE. |
| Odd/even | Whether the total is odd or even. SportPesa settles 0-0 as EVEN. |
| Result + total goals | Two conditions in one pick, such as 1 AND OVER [1.5]: a home win in a match with two goals or more. |
Combined picks pay more because both parts have to land. A 1-0 home win loses 1 AND OVER [1.5], while 2-1 wins it.
Bet types
Types of bets: single, multibet and jackpot
Bet types decide how many picks share one stake. SportPesa uses the word multibet for what punters elsewhere call an accumulator.

| Multibet | Several picks on one slip with the odds multiplied together. Every pick has to win. SportPesa takes from 2 to 50 games by SMS. |
| Multibet bonus | A top-up on a winning multibet. At SportPesa it needs three or more picks, each at odds of 1.30 or higher. |
| Jackpot | A fixed list of matches with a fixed entry price. SportPesa’s Jackpot has 13 matches and its Mega Jackpot Pro 17, each at KSh 99 an entry. |
| Combination | Two or three picks on one jackpot match, which turns one entry into several paid entries. |
| Live betting | Bets placed after kick-off, at odds that move with the game. |
| Cash out | Settling a bet early for an offered amount. SportPesa offers it on pre-match odds, but never on bets placed with bonus funds or with a losing pick already on them. |
Three picks at 1.50, 1.80 and 2.10 multiply to total odds of 5.67, so KSh 100 returns KSh 567 before tax if all three win.

Common betting terms on the betslip
Betslip terms explain where your money goes between the stake and the payout. SportPesa’s slip shows each of these lines before you confirm.

| Odds | Decimal odds show the return for each KSh 1 staked. Odds of 2.40 return KSh 2.40 per shilling, stake included. |
| Possible win | Stake times odds, before tax. |
| Withholding tax | The 20% KRA tax on net winnings, the possible win less the stake. |
| Possible payout | The possible win after withholding tax. |
| Excise tax | The 5% duty on money deposited for betting, explained in the betting tax guide. |
| Void | A pick settled at odds of 1.00. A void single returns the stake; in a multibet the void leg drops out of the total odds. |
| Bet ID | The number in your confirmation SMS, needed to cancel a bet within 10 minutes. |
A postponed or abandoned match is settled at odds of 1.00, either at once or after SportPesa waits up to 72 hours. The rest of a multibet still pays if every other pick wins, at the lower total odds. With the terms clear, compare markets and odds across the best betting sites in Kenya.
